Multimedia Journalist

Picture
Jaime Bedrin is a journalist with experience in radio, TV, print and online news. She has written and produced for ABC News, reported and hosted for National Public Radio, and published features and columns in The Charlotte Observer and The New York Times. She teaches at the Columbia University Graduate School of Journalism (where she is also an alum) and produces audio slideshows and podcasts for OnEarth magazine. She also writes for AOL’s Patch websites and maintains a fabulous beauty blog.

Jaime grew up in Clifton, New Jersey, and graduated from Montclair Kimberley Academy and Dartmouth College. She started her reporting career at The Record of Bergen County. After earning a master’s degree from Columbia, she moved to North Carolina for a chance to report for one of the state’s largest NPR affiliates, WFAE-FM in Charlotte. The Radio Television News Directors of the Carolinas named Jaime radio journalist of the year twice in a row while she worked at WFAE. She also wrote freelance articles and a monthly column for The Charlotte Observer‘s Style section.

Now living in the New York City area, Jaime continues to pursue her love of beauty products and radio journalism -- and teach it, as well. She has filled in as a host at WNYC-FM, produced features for American Public Media’s popular Marketplace program, and is a member of AIR (Association for Independents in Radio). She is a former member of Cosmetic Executive Women. She has also been an occasional co-host for the Newsweek On Air podcast series. She joined the Columbia University faculty as an adjunct professor teaching radio journalism in August 2008.

Jaime is also an alumni interviewer for Dartmouth College.
